It's the 16 a 24 Joule version. I want to start Hft in the near future.
I have the hamster which came with the rifle and still have to mount it.
At the end of August I'll visit the UK again. Hope to visit a Hft club in UK Kent near Battle.
So any contact in this area would be welcome.

Got the same vintage some where but with the black hunter stock, must put it together one day took apart in 2010 its a donor rifle.
That said had it in 2008 and never fired a shot through it, had big plans but time prevails doing so.

That's one decent setup to start with! The Steyr platform is so versatile that you probably won't get bored with it soon :D Mine is ready to change it from about 12 joules in .177 up to 50 joules in .22 right now.

I see you want to start shooting HFT someday, I think your setup as it is now is more suited for FT and long range shooting. For HFT I would consider mounting the scope on the 11 mm rail without any build in cant (the bridge is tilted forward which makes it ideal for long range shooting and FT and the extra height makes it ideal for seated/benchrest shooting). HFT shooting is mostly prone and kneeling shots and a lower mounted scope is more ideal in those cases. It also helps in creating a smaller error (holdover) between the distance of the muzzle of the rifle and the point that the point of impact meets the point of aim (so the close range shots).

Once you start reading into HFT, FT and benchrest these things will become more clear if they aren't already ;) All these types of sports have their charmes 8-)
