Update: Special Rifle Steel and Stainless Steel - wonder what's the difference in steel quality and whether it affects accuracy (probably not - probably 1 grade is cheaper than the other)

I've just fitted 1 on my Raw BM500 which I picked up from Ebay and shots really well despite the fact I've never machined a barrel blank before.

Here's the link.

NB: the order note is for 20 pieces...but he says he's got 60, as follows:

"You are bidding for an as new .177 calibre Lothar WALTHER match grade, with choke, air rifle barrel BLANK, which has a length of 605mm and a diameter of 16mm.

This very high quality unit was one of 60 such blanks bought by Pax Guns of London for an air rifle project that ultimately did not come to fruition, therefore the blanks have remained unused in their original packaging, as received from Walther on 18.10.2013.

A photos shows a copy of the Delivery note and Guarantee sheet as received with the order.

They are NOT a component part as they obviously will require machine work to enable fitting to any particular air rifle or air gun.

These blanks were bought for use on a high end air rifle and are therefore of MATCH grade, and as such entirely suitable for any air rifle upgrade or re-barrelling project."

The cut off I have here is stamped 5 luft at the top and C at the bottom.Walther only stamp the breach end not the crown end which you can see in the picture . I'd post a picture but my phone won't let me.
When I ordered my blank from him he rang to check my address as part if it was not on my PayPal account.

I can confirm these blanks are good quality, I got a 0.177 one and have just cut breech and crown to suit a Steyr LG110 and managed to get 30 or so shots through at the end of today.

OD is 16.03 so had to sleeve breech end as Steyr action is 16.28 - fits sweet.

For the limited distance I can see down the barrel the rifling is very well defined and clean cut. It does look internally a better finish than another LW barrel I have so may be of some "match quality", I've always took these descriptions with a pinch of salt.

The choke is around 0.06mm smaller than breech and its about 30mm long. Pushed a few pellets through and there are no tight spots (except choke :P ) and the rifling marks on pellet head and tail look very good.

It was breezy but managed a couple of single hole groups at 35 yards, will give it a good shoot tomorrow.

I have ordered another for stock 8-)
...the barrel shoots, the stock hits the target...
