#1 North Yorkshire Police- Steyr LP50

Fri Oct 21, 2016 5:58 pm

No news yet here: https://northyorkshire.police.uk/news/

..but here it is -

The question is - unilateral action taken solely by North Yorkshire Police or a nudge from CPS / HO :?:

the quote is inferring North Yorkshire Police "theyare deeming them section 5 prohibited weapons" - which begs the question - is this simply a case of interpretation of the law by 1 police force ?

Read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_p ... ed_Kingdom

These are still available online from UK shops.

http://bedstargetsupplies.co.uk/shop/ai ... steyr.html

One wonders if an explanation is forthcoming by North Yorkshire Police for Club Secretaries in North Yorkshire for all members who are owners of these. Will the News section of the North Yorkshire Police be updated with an explanation for their action and their position :?: but more importantly, to give guidance to law abiding citizens , hobbyist, sportsman - who own these - where they stand..prosecution, no prosecution ? LP50 mandatory hand in ? Compensation for "UK Official Imports" ? ; will a solicitor need to be contacted ASAP ?

What bodes for the other counties :?: Will other Police forces in the UK act accordingly within their jurisdiction, or are able decide otherwise (or have no opinion) :?:

It would be interesting if the BASC and like ... could canvass all Police forces for research and clear guidance purposes, where they stand on the interpretion of the law; have they read and understood the relevant parts in isolation, or in context to make their minds up ?

Mmm...what next ????

ref: http://sportsmansassociation.co.uk/wp-c ... -05a-1.pdf

Quote from the Sportsmans Association News May 2016:

"The Crown Prosecution Service say that no more LP 50s may be imported or sold, however they are not interested in those already in circulation in the UK."

Can we see the document , pdf, or letter from the CPS ?

We are curious to see the letterhead from the CPS when this info. was supposedly, sent out...how ? and by whom ? anyone seen this letter/text saying this from CPS :?:

Name and role of author on this CPS communique please ...

Likewise - the communique from Home Office to CPS.

OR, is this all a re-hash of Lassman's email ? and BTW, the Circular is part of the ACT , clarifying certain things - and to add/modify/ retract any of these parts (in part or whole) would require a Parliamentary amendment ...

Don't know when this was updated...

I suggest everyone who has a vested interest re-read the Home Office circular...and contact their local MP, Club secretary , and any shooting organisation that truly represents their interest.

PS: the "House of Commons" does not deal with this matter as described in paragraph 2 :?

Ref: What are the details of "meeting" to be held in December :?: Club Secretaries and or Journalist should attend this ;) Open or closed ? who is organising this ? Anyone got info on this ? Or is it "Trade Only" :?:

...something fishy...NYP are not releasing details about this matter; if no arrest, because it's a licensing issue as said by Steyr UK - then there is no "criminal case" ie: CPS not involved; no one going to court. Therefore NYP should be held accountable to explain their rationale & action. Silence is deafening and revealing.

Missed this: http://www.nsra.co.uk/index.php/news/17 ... ot-pistols

09 November 2016

"Two weeks ago North Yorkshire Police seized the actions of six Steyr LP50 Air Pistols from Steyr UK. North Yorkshire Police has now confirmed this was as a result of a licensing issue, not a criminal one, believing the pistols to be Section 5 Firearms.

Please see below for the statement issued by Iain Root, Chief Executive Officer.

No other Police Force has done anything similar and the NSRA has not received any guidance or direction from Surrey Police, who are the Association's licensing authority, in relation to LP5 and LP50 Pistols. Because the situation is both sensitive and concerning, attempts have been made to ensure that pistol shooters are not put into untenable situations.

It had been suggested "that pistol shooters should not bring their semi automatic pistols to the NSRA's Lord Roberts Centre because the NSRA would be obliged to seize/confiscate the firearms."

At the present time the NSRA does not have the duty or the power to seize any firearms and would only be able to do so upon the specific instructions of Surrey Police /or the Home Office.

Following what happened in North Yorkshire the issue was discussed with NSRA staff and the worst case scenario was explored. This included what would need to be done, and in what circumstances, should the Association receive instruction, and be given authority, to seize identified firearms.

Essentially I would like to make it known, and confirm that the NSRA will not be seizing any pistols and the sanctioned use of the centre for pistol shooting can continue as previously.

The issue is still of concern and is being pursued by the British Shooting Sports Council. The NSRA is represented on the Council. The BSSC is an umbrella body which brings together Britain's twelve major shooting associations to achieve consensus positions on political and legislative issues affecting the shooting sports. The Council's object is to promote and safeguard the lawful possession and use of firearms and air weapons for sporting and recreational purposes in the United Kingdom amongst all sections of society. The feelings of BSSC are shared with the Home Office and Police Service through BSSC's involvement with the tripartite Practitioners Group.
The BSSC is holding meetings on the 1st and 5th of December 2016 and Semi Automatic Air Pistols has been put on the agenda. Any further developments will be shared with members of the NSRA and its affiliated clubs.

Iain Root
Chief Executive Officer"

WHO are the BSSC ? (BSSC = Umbrella organization - it was the GTA who sent that WARNING on semi autos; as per link from 2015 and annual reports show 2 members on both Organizations; and the NSRA has faith in the BSSC or the GTA specifically ???

See here - loads of "bed hopping" going on and different agendas...

Funny how it is "mandatory" custodial sentence- yet it was a "licensing issue" that 5 Steyr LP50 simply get banged up ..
