#1 JH Anchutz 9015 Basic Bench Rest

Fri Dec 29, 2017 4:40 pm

Went out a couple of weeks ago can be seen at Bisley week days.

Starts life as Anchutz 9015 Basic Bench Rest around 7J. Suitably power modified to sub 12ft/lb, stable -4 to 90F the culmination of 12 years R&D.
Criteria on this one was stability and 120 shots at 782 ft/sec 8.4gr.

Due to Anchutz quality out of my control they all differ. Isolating the differences down has taken many months to the extent of literally swapping one part over from another rifle taking from dog to something sublime.

New replacement steel cylinder complete with both valves, pain. New steel end plug, quick fill and steel dust cap fluted . Tube length is 2 3/4" longer than standard and get 165 shots +/-5 ft/sec over the charge.
Original steel cylinder after setup gave 137 shots, no need to have made above but better quality and blacked rather than painted original.

This ones not free floated but easy to cure, again they all vary.

Fairly shallow rail made to BKL mounts solves several problems others will find out shortly.

Quite a nice rifle to shoot very accurate after the setup can pick up the pellets fly after 15 yards.

When you say stable Jon can you explain?
Are you saying you get no Fps fluctuation between -4&90 degs?Or are you saying you get no POI.change?

Both velocity and zero shift sorted back in 2005.

Many things can and will cause velocity shift, 7 things. Its one thing power converting as said years ago, entirely another league sorting them.
Equally theres as many things that will affect zero shift and looking at various things others have done is laughable.

Above is a good one a 1 in 10, quality has gone down the pan this year more so the last 5 months causing massive grief, lost time - months, putting right and being charged for replacement parts on 4 out of every 5 rifles. German engineering at its best and just the tip of the iceberg.
If a jobs worth doing, do it right or not at all.

And here she is in action:

Was a bit windy even down the tunnel for a proper test last night, but very very accurate when the wind had dropped.

Don't know if it was the wind throwing my initial pellet testing, but seemed to be OK with JSB Exact 4.53. I wasn't counting, got well over 100 shots without the power dropping off :-)

Thanks to Jon :-)

PS, think I need a scope upgrade now, I think something silver would top her off nice.
