"I bought a Steyr LG110 10m rifle from a forum member; I have been looking for some time at buying a reasonably priced LG110 as I wanted to build a custom FT rifle.
This rifle was already converted to 16 Joule by the previous owner - replacing the transfer port, “tuning” of air regulator and adjusting the hammer spring. The rifle was not in very good condition, it had various scratches on the aluminium chassis; barrel (from fitting barrel weights) etc. The wooden parts had been refinished with a black paint with overspray on other parts of the rifle. It also had a homemade butt plate, which is not very functional.
I have given the rifle a complete make over, starting with the internals and doing a proper conversion from a 10m rifle to a LG110 FT 16 J configuration. In order to that the following parts had to be replaced:
· Hammer.
· Hammer spring.
· Valve spring.
· External velocity adjustment screw.
· 85-bar regulator, 10m rifles come standard with 100-bar regulator. I was also concerned about the reliability of the old “tuned” regulator.
· New 16j transfer port; previous port seemed to be reamed to increase diameter and airflow.
· New stock cover to make provision for the external velocity adjustment screw.
Replacing these parts will update any LG110 10m rifle, connect or non-connect model, to an LG110 16J FT. This conversion is only doable for an LG110, a LG100 would require significant changes including machining work.
Hammer, hammer spring and valve spring was polished to a mirror finish before being installed.
In addition to updating the internals I also made the following changes externally to the rifle, some cosmetic and some to functional:
· Removed old anodizing from aluminium chassis parts, removed scratches. Re-anodized all aluminium parts in a gunmetal grey instead of the standard silver colour.
· Polished barrel to get rid of marks. Barrel was then re-plated with nickel to maintain all weather capability.
· To ensure a proper fit of the barrel in the aluminium chassis, all mounting holes for the barrel was honed to factory tolerances.
· Fitted a Gary Cane laminated wood grip-set, Field and Stream colour combination.
· Fitted a MEC free position butt plate and hook.
I am very satisfied with my purchase and the results of the conversion and customization. I now have a unique Steyr that shoots well and looks good, well at least to me."
