...For what it's worth - never come across a POI issue on any forum in the UK, or around the world on the Steyr Challenge...or the Guru having to chop & cut one up :o ...which would be short of sacrilegious and besides, the previous model is open, and simply remove the rubber O ring to free float the barrel

Saying that and seeing the UK competitors on the local competition circuit, and a few Challenge rifles at the last World's instills mucho confidence.

http://www.wftc2016.com/?page=individualresults (have emailed them to get the kit list- if they have it)

The question is , although the RAW is relatively far more affordable over the Steyr Challenge and shoots decent groupings - why is the ratio of Steyr Challenge (and variants) greater over the RAW TM1000 ? Is it that far more superior ?

Perhaps Steyr has the edge with the trigger, distribution, parts, and proven platform with a several World Champ wins under it's belt...

Finally, as Jon has alluded to in the past - perhaps the trigger AND lock time is more critical for competitive shooters...let him say his 2 cents if he picks up on my comment here :)

PS: If you do get the Steyr Challenge- order it with the short barrel - yes, you can specify this... (the long barrel has had many issues on accuracy and 'running in' to perform; some speculate its the nickel coating flaking off inside the barrel that needs to completely wear away...but I dont personally know what were the reasons for the 'problems' in the first place. Perhaps this problem has now been permanently rectified by Steyr Sport; so don't hesitate to email them ...and they will respond to your questions.

As an added BONUS, do request it if you prefer...in Silver if that's a preference over black.

Fairly sure Steyr have only 1 World Championship win 2011.
Lesser known and used Anchutz have 2 World winning titles 2004 and 2009.

Let down with Steyrs is the trigger.
Most worth their salt open up the A frame way beyond removing the O ring.
If a jobs worth doing, do it right or not at all.

Not yet. I think i may have an opportunity to shoot RAW at the next meet, early June. No Steyr in my part. Soo hard. From what I have seen, Steyr has better lock time.

That's a well fettled RAW from the chap that designed the first ever air rifle reg copied by many worldwide and lost out.
The regs on those have a power curve ie: low power at high pressure and higher at low pressure, what Barry has done is balance it all out on the 30 odd year old mechanical design of rifle.
