HW95 - Skullcandy pimped!

Pimped? Well, definitely modified.

I wanted to do something a bit different for a .25 cal I was building. Got a couple of older BSA .25 cal rifles, but I want to keep them good, so went about building a modern .25.

It started out as a standard HW95 in .22 cal which I bought 2nd hand. It shot very nicely, and when I pulled it apart, I found that it had already been given a mild tune. As .25 rifles soot quite soft in sub 12ftlb form, I left the internals alone, as it would probably be even better later.

So first up was the stock. I really didn't like the style of checkering on this stock, so cutting it about wouldn't be a problem either. The front was cut down to give it a look more like the older HW85, and the rear was cut, as for plinking, I prefer a shorter pull to aid handling.

Next the checkering was filled, and primed.

Next down was the base coat for the paint job.

I used decals stuck on like stencils, painted over them, and removed the sticker when the paint was drying.

And the finished stock: Butt pad was re-shaped to fit the shorter stock profile.

The barrel is a .25 carbine from a HW80 I bought from Germany, with a SAK silencer up front.
The scope is an older gloss Nikon Monarch 2-7x32 maybe, on sportsmatch mounts.
It certainly does shoot nice, maybe the paint job is not everyones cup of tea at the club, but it only gets praised for the way it feels and shoots

.25 ... at 12 ft/lb is the maximum effective range ?

Its only for plinking, going out to 25m its more than accurate.
