#1 Rink Form - Anschutz 9003 Precise - Grip & Cheekrest

Tue Sep 12, 2017 10:57 pm

...Already have the hamster (fitted on black Rowan mech) ...so decided to complete the "set" with a custom made Grip & Cheekrest in walnut to replace the horrid plastic - to fit on my Black Anschutz 9003 PRECISE stock (which will take a 9015 action)

Chuffed ! :D

Birthday pressy?
Happy birthday.

Looks like it wont close up the rowan needs raising in the wood to clear the centre well proud and still need a recess for front preset position wheel.
Will drop down way too low fully closed up

..cheers Jon

Not after recess cargo ship container...understood what you're saying...so not flush with other type of hamster when fully closed up.. the lock system is good enough so will never be collapsed to full horizontal position as thats not required for my use. Besides..seen others using flat alu strips or even modded Fwb800 alu fore end..good enough.

PS: Rear part of walnut has recess so Rowan can also be fitted from there..

Look how unweildledly high the rifle is then add on 2" high rail counteracting. Could argue arm position standing, takes a lot more effort arm out straight than angled up.
My thumbs round the cylinder not 5 or 6" lower, more stable.

To get it right it has to be adjustable not on presets about every 15 degrees where 1/2 a degree required for spot on adjustability.

Congrats Admin,

The Walnut looks great on the black stock. And must feel much more pleasant compared to the original plastic cheekpiece and grip. Would you care to disclose the prices for these items?

I agree fully with Jon on the Rowan hamster adjuster. These very high fore-ends are Chance-less for a good shooting position, whether sitting, standing or kneeling. The extra height makes the position way too unstable.
Does the current world champion Jack Harris use a high hamster? Did McFlynn ? Did Zubenko? NO they all shoot without these ridiculous high hamsters. Yes John Costello has a Rowan one now on his rifle, a sponsored one I guess, but it's always in the low position.
Look at the olympic rifle shooters standing and 3P kneeling. These guys have been doing positionals for decades and it's all about a stable shooting position.
I never saw the need for an adjustable hamster in FT and I have been shooting 3P smallbore and 10m airrifle for over 30 years up to national champion levels.

Cheers Sven

Way better than original plastic, yet more affordable than a bit of GC laminate grip for sure..besides walnut & black always work aesthetically...

Pricing is per Rink Form website...

As most of you know - am a hobbyist / collector, so.... the Rowan really is a bonus to me for my needs...and am in neither camps for or against it...but suppose it's really a matter how a shooter/user trained with their gun, and whether they know scientifically or perceptually if the hamster adds a 0.00% to 1.5% to 3.00% score improvement ...so who's to say ? if the user shoots fine & is happy great..if they dont have it attached - just as well ...great if scores & consistency dont change...
